A former Labour Party Governorship candidate in Plateau State, Chief Yohana Yilpwan Margif has called on the security agencies to fastrack the Corruption and forgery allegations leveled against the former National Chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure.
Margif who was reacting to the Press Conference of the LP National Treasurer , Oluchi Oparah which accuses the former National Chairman of the Party, Julius Abure of embezzling three billion naira noted that the investigation became necessary in order to restore the confidence of members and the public.
Margif said there are more than meets the eyes and urged the current National Chairman of the Party, Alhaji Lamidi Apapa to set up an investigative Committee to probe the activities of the immediate past National Chairman and recover all the party’s funds to serve as deterrent to others.
The former Plateau State Governorship candidate urged the security agencies to expedite action on his forgery case levelled against Abure and his cohorts who connived and deprived him of the governorship ticket having been issued with a certificate of return by the state chapter of the party.
Abure and the National Secretary of the party robbed me of the mandate freely given to me by members of the party when he connived with the then Plateau state Chairman of the party, Grace Zamfara to illegally withdraw my certificate of return and issue same to Dr. Patrick Dakum using my forged signature” Margif alleged.
He explained that with the new revelations by Oluchi, it is now obvious that the former national chairman was the reason why the party lost during the last general elections due to the imposition of unpopular candidates who bribed their way to obtain the party’s ticket.
Margif while lamenting that the substitution of his name and that of Patrick Dakum contributed immensely to the party’s defeat in the last general elections in Plateau State , he appealed to the security agencies to fastrack the prosecution of Abure and his gang to cleanse the party of bad eggs.
He pointed out that LP is the only party in Nigeria today that has the logo of the family( Father , Mother and Child) and challenged the Nigeria Police and the Judiciary to expedite action by bringing Abure and others to justice for hurting the party’s chances in the last general election and to enable it restore the confidence of its members and the public.
