Nigerian midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, scored his fifth goal of the season on his 270th appearance for Leicester City who moved top of the English Championship with a 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion in a dramatic Midlands derby at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, according to reports.
Ndidi opened the scoring after 22 minutes when he slammed in Alex Palmer’s rebound flick header almost on the goal line. Jamie Vardy doubled the Foxes lead when he redeemed himself after his earlier penalty miss to head home Abdul Fatawu’s pinpoint cross.
Jed Wallace halved the deficit 11 minutes later, finishing well from Cedric Kipre’s superb long ball, but despite a late rally, they were left to rue their poor finishing in the end.
The victory boosts the Foxes’ hopes of automatic promotion back to the Premier League and ends a successive run of defeats.
Leicester now have 91 points from 43 games and are two points clear of second-placed Ipswich Town.
The 27-year-old who was rated six by the BBC was booked deep into stoppage time for time wasting – his sixth of the season. He has also made six assists in the 33 games he has featured in across all competitions.
