With three goals from his last five Bundesliga games for newly promoted Union Berlin, Taiwo Awoniyi is a man in form.
The Nigerian forward on loan from Liverpool is experiencing his seventh loan spell away from the Premier League giants.
Awoniyi has represented Nigeria at U17, U20 & U23 level but is yet to receive a call up to the Super Eagles.
He was part of the Nigerian U17 side that lifted the 2013 World Cup at that category alongside players like Kelechi Iheanacho and Isaac Success, the duo who have gone on to represent the senior national team.
In a chat with brila.net, Awoniyi says he hopes to get his chance with the senior national side although he acknowledged that the country do have talents in abundance.
“The national team question for me is a big thing. I remember in the U17 and U20 days, the pride to wear the national colors is massive.”
“I understand that the country has talents in abundance. But I also have to stick to my principle of time and season and continue to work hard.”
“When it’s my time I’ll take the opportunity and understand it for what it is.” He told brila.net.
