Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has publicly called out popular gospel singer Tope Alabi for failing to perform at her surprise birthday party, despite reportedly receiving payment from fans for the appearance.
The gospel singer allegedly refused to honour the invitation upon discovering that the event was in celebration of Lizzy Anjorin.
Sources claimed Tope Alabi arrived at the venue on Friday but declined to step out of her car or perform after realizing who the celebrant was.
In a strongly worded response shared online, Anjorin did not hold back as she expressed disappointment in Tope Alabi’s conduct.
She revealed that her fans had paid N4 million to secure the singer’s performance, an amount she believes could have made a greater impact if donated to those in need.
“Aunty Tope, my fans paid you N4 million, and I have the evidence. Even if it was 500k, were you not once an actress? We were taught to play our roles no matter what. You’re a brand your husband built with an empty stomach,” Anjorin said, adding that she once stood by the singer during her fallout with Prophet Ajanaku.
The actress, who is a devout Muslim, stated that she was unaware that her fans had invited a gospel artist to the event. According to her, she would never have personally hired Tope Alabi for such a function, suggesting an Islamic musician would have been more appropriate.
