Making his first Eredivisie appearance for his Dutch club, Maduka Okoye could not prevent Sparta Rotterdam from suffering successive defeats.
After making his debut for Sparta few days back in a cup game in which he impressed, the Super Eagles goalkeeper and his team endured a tough league outing against SC Heerenveen, conceding four goals from six shots.
Heerenveen raced to a 3:0 half-time lead through strikes from Benjamin Nygren, Jan Paul van Hecke and Henk Veerman.
Henk Veerman scored again seven minutes into the second half to make matters worse for the home side. Sparta got a late consolation goal from the penalty spot after Lennart Thy converted his kick.
The loose extends Sparta Rotterdam’s winless run to eight games in all competitions this season, which leaves them in the bottom three of the league table and out of cup competition.
