Manchester City’s hopes of advancing in the Champions League lie in tatters following a dramatic 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

Despite leading 2-0 early in the second half, Pep Guardiola’s side crumbled under a relentless PSG onslaught in a pulsating encounter at the Parc des Princes.

City took control in the 50th minute when Jack Grealish capitalised on a rebound to open the scoring.

A swift second followed as Erling Haaland found the net just three minutes later, silencing the home crowd. With a 2-0 lead, City appeared poised for a crucial victory.

However, PSG struck back with breathtaking speed. Ousmane Dembélé halved the deficit in the 56th minute, and moments later, Bradley Barcola’s opportunistic strike levelled the score at 2-2, sending the stadium into raptures.

PSG’s dominance grew as the clock ticked on. Joao Neves rose highest to head in Vitinha’s pinpoint free-kick in the 78th minute, putting the Parisians ahead for the first time.

Despite City’s attempts to respond, Ilkay Gündoğan’s long-range effort narrowly missed, keeping Guardiola’s side on the back foot.

The night’s final act came in the dying moments of added time. Gonçalo Ramos initially saw his goal ruled out for offside, only for VAR to overturn the decision after a tense review.

Ramos’ emphatic finish into the top corner sealed the victory and sent PSG fans into delirium.

City now teeter on the brink of an unthinkable group-stage exit.
