Ex Nigerian international, Mikel Obi has assured Chelsea fans that he would do everything to convince Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen to join the Blues this summer.
Osimhen, who moved to Napoli in 2020 for a club-record 70 million euros ($76 million) potentially rising to 80 million euros with add-ons, was a pivotal player last season as the club won their first league title in 33 years and finished as Serie A top scorer with 26 goals.
The current Pertenopei point man signed a contract extension last month that runs until June 2026 but it appears he could still leave the Naples with top European clubs ready to meet his release clause.
However, Mikel who spoke at a Web Summit Qatar, stated that he wants Osimhen to join the league of Nigerian players that have don the Blues colours.
“I think there’s genuine interest between both (Chelsea and Osimhen).
“I think he loves the club, he wants to come to the club, obviously he wants to follow in my footsteps as a Nigerian player who has played for Chelsea, like Victor Moses, Celestine Babayaro, there’s not a lot of us.
“But he also has a lot of interest, like PSG, Man United, but I’m still pushing, sending him messages, trying to make sure he doesn’t expect too much, just narrow your mind on one club: The Blues!”
