The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has interrogated the Olorile of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Adewale Ogunjobi  over allegations of undue interference in law enforcement matters.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed this development in a statement on Monday, stating that the monarch had been invited and questioned by the command handling the case.

Adejobi emphasised that no individual, regardless of status, could claim control over the police, stressing that justice would be served.

“The Oba has been invited and interrogated today by the command. The matter is being looked into for justice to prevail. Nobody can claim to be controlling the NPF. Justice must be served by all means,” Adejobi stated.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Government has suspended Oba Abdulsemiu Adewale Ogunjobi, for six months following his public misconduct towards a 73-year-old man.

The decision, taken in collaboration with the Egba Traditional Council, was made after a viral video surfaced online showing the monarch verbally abusing and threatening the elderly man over his stance in an obaship dispute.

Following an interrogation by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the government deemed the monarch’s actions reckless and unbecoming of his office.

Consequently, he has been stripped of all official privileges associated with the traditional stool while investigations into his conduct continue.

The suspension is in line with Section 52(1) of the Ogun State Obas and Chiefs’ Law of 2021, underscoring the government’s commitment to upholding justice, dignity, and responsible leadership.
