Mr. Nigeria under fire for “attraction to poor women”

By Olaitan Ibrahim

Ugo Nwokolo, the current Mr. Nigeria, has stirred a heated online debate after revealing his unconventional “sexual turn-on” during a past interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast with Nedu.

The model confessed that he is most attracted to poor girls, claiming their humble backgrounds make them more committed in relationships.

According to Nwokolo, such women are more likely to pray for their partners and have higher fertility rates.

“Poor girls turn me on. The poorer the girl, the more attracted I am to her. It’s only a poor woman who would wake up by 7 a.m. to pray for you. Marry a poor girl because, when it comes to fertility, poor women can be so fertile,” he stated.

His remarks, which were intended to praise women from less privileged backgrounds, were met with intense backlash online.

Critics accused Nwokolo of being insensitive, belittling women, and reinforcing harmful stereotypes.

Social media erupted with a wave of criticism:

  • @Alfie_9991 wrote: “This is why we have so many dysfunctional teenagers nowadays because papa no get sense.”
  • @Ebony_Tina_ added: “Every day, I’m glad my brothers and male cousins aren’t embarrassing me online. Thank you, Jesus.”
  • @Rodrickg remarked: “Yeah, so it’s easy to manipulate them with the small money you have. Mumu, nobody even knows who you are.”
