Popular singer-songwriter Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has revealed that her mother advised her to start wearing long skirts.
Starr’s choice of outfits has always attracted criticism on social media.
In November 2022, the Mavin Record artiste was lambasted on social media over the dress she wore to a concert in Lagos.
Reacting to the criticism, Starr said people should stop judging her based on her outfit.
She added that opinions from critics do not matter to her.
Last June, Starr was also criticised for her skimpy dress during a concert in Athens, Greece.
Months later, the songstress was lambasted over her outfit during her ’21: World Tour’ in Stockholm, Sweden.
But in a recent post on X, Starr shared a video of herself dancing in a grey-coloured crop top and maxi skirt.
She revealed that her mother has asked her to start putting on long skirts.
“My mom said I should start wearing longer skirts,” she wrote.
Recalled that Starr onnce disclosed that, despite her financial capability, she refrains from purchasing expensive handbags because of her mother.
The Starr revealed how her mother embodies the traits of a typical Nigerian mom, expressing how she hesitated to buy a coveted luxury bag because of her mother’s values.
She shared her experience of her mother’s protective nature, highlighting how she diligently checks in on her and those around her, particularly during late-night shows.
Ayra Starr was among the Nigerian music stars nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony which was held last Sunday.
The songstress, who had prepared her acceptance speech in case her hit single ‘Rush’ won the maiden ‘Best African Music Performance’ category, however, lost to Tyla, the South African singer.
Starr recently told the Grammys that her family is proud of her personality.
