The Nigeria Communications Commission said that it was working with relevant security agencies in Nigeria to minimize the scourge of insecurity in the country through the elimination of illegal SIM cards in the country.
The collaboration of the agency with vital security agencies is with a view tackling the rampaging incidents of kidnapping, banditry and terrorism.
The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida on Monday told media in Abuja that his vision is to put smiles on the faces of telecoms consumers in Nigeria by improving the quality of services being offered them by service providers as well as increase investments and allied services in Nigeria.
Dr. Maida, who used the occasion to outline his strategy as NCC boss, indicated that consumer satisfaction would be at the heart of his strategy by putting smiles back on the faces of consumers.
Maida said, “We need to put smiles on the faces of consumers with quality services.
We want to get to the point where our services will be very reliable and serve the needs of consumers.
“To be able to reach that point, there must be transparency and accountability around billing systems and tariffs.
That is why we are working hard to simplify the tariffs and billings knowing that telecoms services have become very critical to our lives and we must make it work well and serve Nigerians.
The NCC is ready to work with other stakeholders to make things better and bring in more investments and revenue for Nigeria.
We recognize the fact that if we do not work hard and put smiles on the faces of our consumers, the industry cannot make the required progress.
