THE PHILIPPINES—Anti-narcotics agents and local police in Bacoor, a city in the Philippine province of Cavite, have arrested a Nigerian national for the possession of 1,000 grams of shabu—which is a local slang for the contraband drug methamphetamine.
The suspect, Ifeanyi Ukoji, 36, was arrested when undercover agents posed as buyers at a restaurant’s parking lot in Molino Barangay Talaba, an area within the province.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said the suspect, a resident of Barangay Mambog III, Bacoor City, was under surveillance among other Nigerians suspected of drug dealing.
Confiscated from him were the one kilo of shabu and the buy-bust marked money. Authorities say Ifeanyi will be charged with drug trafficking under Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Many Nigerians have been arrested for drug dealing in the Philippines, and only last week, one Nigerian was nabbed in Thailand for similar offence.
