Two Nigerian music stars, Rema and Asake, have earned global recognition after being featured on former United States President Barack Obama’s list of favorite songs for 2024.
Obama, who is known for curating an annual playlist of his most-loved tracks, shared his selection on Saturday via X (formerly Twitter).
Among the songs that caught his attention were Rema’s “Yayo” and Asake’s “Active,” which features American rapper Travis Scott.
Joining them on the prestigious list is South African artiste Tyla, whose track “Jump,” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng, also made the cut. Nigerian-American artists Shaboozey and Jordan Adetunji were recognized for their songs “A Bar Song” and “Kehlani,” respectively.
The list also included international music heavyweights like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Karol G, each represented by a hit song from the year.
Sharing the playlist, Obama wrote:
