The second edition of the Odion Ighalo Soccer fiesta kicked off Wednesday in Epe, Lagos in Grand style with an elaborate opening ceremony witnessed by the Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Mr. Rasheed Balogun, Super Falcons of Nigeria defender, Onome Ebi, Proprietor of MD Zoro FC of Lagos, Mr. Emmanuel Davis and former Chairman, Lagos State Football Association.
In the first game, Eleven FC defeated Emperor FC, 6-5 on penalty after playing a 1-1 draw at the end of regulations, with goals scored by Ajumebi Azeez for Eleven FC, and Bebeto fir Emperor.
In the second game, PAT FC defeated Glorious FC 2-1. Ismaila Ogunsola scored PAT FC’s winning goal.
In another game, Ighalo FC lost their first game 4-2 against Papa FC.
The opening ceremony was given a very bright colour by the sponsor, Odion Ighalo, who put a phone call through to the players during the ceremony to give his keynote address, where he admonished the players to focus on their training at the various academies and pay attention to what their coaches teach them in training, adding that, it only by doing this, that they can make progress to become great players.
The Odion Ighalo Soccer Fiesta continues on Friday at the Ighalo Sports Arena, opposite Atlantic Hall School, Poka, Epe, Lagos, with the semi-final finals.
The competition will end on Sunday, December 20, 2020, with the grand finale.
