Nigeria-eligible striker Samu Omorodion is set to complete a transfer to former English Premier League champions Chelsea, as per a source.
Since American businessman Todd Boehly took over at the helms of affairs at Chelsea, the club have been on a spending spree on young players.
The Blues have invested a lot in young players, both proven and unproven. They have been courting Omorodion since the end of last season after a decent debut campaign with Alaves.
The 20-year-old attacker broke onto the scene at Atletico Madrid last season. Then he moved to Alaves on a season-long loan to search for more game time. There, he registered eight goals and one assist in 35 appearances.
Chelsea have been in talks with Atletico Madrid to sign the youngster in the past months, and the deal is set to be sealed.
This is as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that both sides have agreed on a fee and Chelsea have agreed on personal terms for the youngster. Omorodion will sign a seven-year contract and pay Atleti €35 million.
The deal is expected to the completed in the next few days once Omorodion completes his medical.
The 20-year-old striker was born in Spain to Nigerian parents, but he currently plays for the Spanish youth team. However, he can still switch allegiances and play for Nigeria because he has not played for Spain’s senior team yet.
