Red-hot Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen delivered another masterclass performance on Saturday, scoring twice to help Galatasaray cruise past Sivasspor 4–1 in a one-sided Turkish Super Lig encounter in Istanbul.
Galatasaray wasted no time stamping their authority on the game, with Lucas Torreira opening the scoring in the 9th minute by lashing home a rebound after a scramble in the box.
Just six minutes later, Osimhen doubled the lead, reacting fastest to another loose ball in the area to fire low into the right-hand corner, making it 2–0.
Galatasaray continued their first-half onslaught in ruthless fashion. In the 21st minute, Baris Alper Yilmaz curled in a sublime strike from the edge of the penalty area, leaving the Sivasspor goalkeeper stranded.
Osimhen struck again in the 31st minute, this time ghosting into the box to meet a well-placed free kick. With calm precision, he slotted the ball inside the right post for his second of the night and Galatasaray’s fourth — effectively sealing the contest before half-time.
Sivasspor managed a moment of individual brilliance in the 33rd minute when Rey Manaj pulled one back with an audacious finish from a tight angle. But that was as close as the visitors came to mounting any kind of resistance.
Osimhen nearly completed his hat-trick in the 38th minute, but his goal-bound effort was acrobatically parried by Sivasspor’s goalkeeper, Ali Sasal Vural.
He found the net again shortly after the break, latching onto a delightful pass to slot past the keeper, only for VAR to rule it out for offside.
The second half saw Galatasaray maintain control, with Dries Mertens coming close in the 80th minute and Sivasspor having another goal chalked off late in added time following a VAR review for a foul in the build-up.
With this commanding win, Galatasaray solidify their grip on the top spot, while Osimhen’s blistering form continues to make headlines as he settles comfortably into Turkish football.
