The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the late singer Mohbad’s autopsy report, which sparked outrage, has not been formally submitted to them.
It has been two months since the late Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy as of Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
Mohbad, who was originally signed to Naira Marley’s record label, died in questionable circumstances on September 12, 2023.
The Lagos state government has ordered a coroner’s investigation into the 27-year-old singer’s death.
Unanswered questions about the talented singer’s death emphasise how important it is to have clarity as the autopsy investigation moves forward.
The police emphasise that they are committed to depending on accurate information instead of hearsay, even in the face of circulating rumours.
On Monday, November 20, state police public relations officer Benjamin Hundeyin provided an update on the autopsy, stating that the report had not been formally received by the command.
Hundeyin said: “The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”
Hundeyin added that only the singer’s family lawyer can request the release of the autopsy result from the pathologists. Otherwise, it will be provided independently to the police once it’s ready.
