Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique, has said that Ousmane Dembélé would be a worthy winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or award.
Enrique made this statement while speaking to TNT Sports after his team’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Saturday’s Champions League final.
Although the French winger did not find the net, his manager was effusive in his praise for the 28-year-old’s performance against Inter.
“I’d give the Ballon d’Or to Ousmane Dembélé,” Enrique told reporters.
“The way he defended tonight… only that can be worthy of the Ballon d’Or.
“This is how you lead a team: goals, titles, leadership, defending, and the way he pressed.
“Ousmane is my Ballon d’Or. No doubts at all.”
Alongside Barcelona’s forwards Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, Dembélé is considered one of the leading contenders for the Ballon d’Or.
Dembélé has contributed 33 goals and 15 assists in all competitions as PSG completed a historic treble this season.
