Paris Saint-Germain have ended their chase of Victor Osimhen sooner than the Parisiens expressed their interest with an initial €130 million offer for the Napoli striker.
According to RMC Sport, the Ligue 1 giants have identified his Napoli teammate Kvicha Kvaratskhelia as the ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappé, who is on his way to Real Madrid.
The club were looking towards Serie A for Mbappe’s replacement, with names including Rafael Leao of Milan and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen featuring prominently in the discourse, but the French outlet now reports that Kvaratskhelia has been pin-pointed by coach Luis Enrique as the number one priority for the role.
The 23-year-old Georgia international is under contract with the Azzurri until June 2027, but has been discussing a new deal with very different salary figures following his extraordinary debut campaign.
RMC Sport insists Kvaratskhelia’s entourage showed themselves to be ‘enthusiastic’ about the idea of joining Paris Saint-Germain, but there is no agreement with the player or Napoli, who is valued at €120 million and who joined the Partenopei for just €13.3 million from Dinamo Batumi in the summer of 2022.
Osimhen is also strongly linked with Chelsea, who made an offer of €90 million plus Romelu Lukaku for the Nigerian striker just a day after PSG made a €90 million plus €40 million first offer that went viral.
In a recent report, it was gathered that Chelsea’s pursuit of the player received a boost, as the former Lille star was reportedly open to moving to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Osimhen, 25, extended his contract with Napoli until 2026 in December and a few weeks later announced his decision to leave the club by season’s end for a destination known only to him and his agent.
Chelsea have always been the most likely destination for the U17 World Cup winner, who wants to follow in the footsteps of his idol Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge.
