Rahama Sadaus debuts “Mamah” as first Hausa movie at Red Sea Film Festival

In a groundbreaking achievement for the Hausa film industry, Rahama Sadau has announced that her film ‘Mamah will be screened at the prestigious Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.

This milestone marks the first time a Hausa-language movie will be showcased at the globally recognised event, a major win for Kannywood and the Nigerian film industry.

The screening is scheduled for 9th December 2024, at Cinema 4, Red Sea Culture Square, Jeddah, with access restricted to Red Sea Souk badge holders.

Rahama shared her excitement on social media, saying: “Thrilled to announce that our film Mamah will be screened at the Red Sea International Film Festival! This is one great achievement as it marks the FIRST HAUSA MOVIE to be showcased at this prestigious international festival. A proud moment for us as producers, actors, and a huge leap forward for Kannywood.”

The film, co-produced by Rahama and Abdullahi Amart Mai Kwachewa, was directed by Toka McBaror and stars prominent Kannywood actors, including Adam A. Zango, Nafeesat Abdullahi, and Rahama herself.

The announcement has drawn immense praise from fans and fellow industry professionals, with comments celebrating this achievement as a step forward for the representation of Hausa culture on the global stage.

The selection of Mamah underscores the growing recognition of Kannywood’s contributions to African cinema. It is a testament to the industry’s creativity, cultural richness, and potential to break barriers on the global film scene.
