Tope Olusesi disclosed Rangers will go all out for victory against Nasarawa United to honour late teammate Ifeanyi George this evening.
It would be recalled that striker Ifeanyi George lost his life in a ghastly auto accident on his way from Enugu to Lagos on 22 March 2020 following the cancellation of the Nigerian Professional Football League due to COVID-19.
Ifeanyi, along with teammate Emmanuel Ogbu and friend Eteka Gabriel, was reported to have crashed into an articulated vehicle. All 3 people in the car died at the scene.
Monday 22nd will make it a year the energetic striker passed and Olusesi said Rangers want to win the game to move closer to their ambition and also honour late George.
“Monday’s match against Nasarawa United will be tough but we are playing for the maximum points at stake to move closer to realizing our dreams for the season and also in memory of our late colleague, Ifeanyi George, who died exactly one year ago,” Olusesi said.
Chiamaka Madu also echoed Olusesi’s statement, saying they are ready to fight for everything that is at stake.
“We know what is at stake in the game with Nasarawa United and prepared to give our all to get the maximum points.” The match will be played at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu and the time is 4:00 pm on Monday.
Ifeanyi George was born on 22 November 1993 and died 22 March 2020, he was a Nigerian professional footballer who played as a striker.
Born in Umuahia, George played club football for Enyimba and Enugu Rangers. He earned two caps for Nigeria in 2017
