Nigerian and Almeria of Spain striker, Sadiq Umar has disclosed that Brazilian legend, Ronaldinho and ex Super Eagles’ striker, Daniel Amokachi are his two football idols who inspired him to give more in the game.
In an exclusive interview with veteran sports journalist, Kola Daniel, the Olympic silver medal winning striker said the two ex players helped shaped his game just as he left the door about playing for Super Eagles in the future.
Sadiq who has played for AS Roma, Gorica in Croatia among other European Clubs said he lives for the needy and his family just he has phobia about losing his mum.
“When I was growing up, I used to watch Ronaldinho and how he’s playing, he was such a great player and inspiration. Even when I was in Roma I used to tell Maicon (Brazilian team mate of Ronaldinho) to greet him for me. Also Daniel Amokachi is great player I grew up to know. Everybody talk about him in Kaduna, I didn’t watch him play but people are always crazy about him and talk about how great he was.
“You know I’ve not get any call up since the Olympics in 2018. Now I want to focus on my club career and see what happens next because you never know what might happen next but I will always be ready to play for Nigeria.
“I have phobia to lose my mum, because she’s all I’ve got as my father is no more. I’m living for my family, my mum, my daughter and also live for the poor, I always want to help the needy to live a better live.
