Veteran Fuji singer, General Kollington Ayinla, has stirred controversy following his revelations about his former partner and fellow music legend, Queen Salawa Abeni.

In a recent interview on The Teju Babyface Show, the 75-year-old singer opened up about their longstanding relationship, stating that despite their separation and Salawa’s current romantic involvement with another man, she remains his wife “till the end of life.”

Kollington emphasized the depth of their bond, noting that they share three children together.

He insisted that Salawa Abeni is not just a former lover but someone who holds a permanent place in his life.

“That is how God wants it to be. She has three children with me; she is more than just a concubine. She is my wife for life,” he declared.

The Fuji icon also spoke on the strain celebrity status can place on relationships, especially for women in the spotlight.

He pointed out that while male entertainers often attract female fans, female celebrities also face advances from male admirers, a relationship he believes may have contributed to their separation.

“She is a celebrity. And just like women chase after male stars, male fans also throw themselves at female stars. But a woman’s understanding is limited,” he stated.

Despite these challenges, Kollington remained unwavering in his belief that their connection is unbroken.

“No matter what I am doing, she always turns up. She’s still my wife. The person she is currently with is only loaning her,” he added.

Kollington Ayinla and Salawa Abeni were once celebrated as a power couple in Nigeria’s music industry.
