Sanwo-Olu reaffirms bilateral ties between Lagos State, Grenada

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has affirmed the state’s commitment to building stronger bilateral relations with Grenada and other nations, aimed at boosting the state’s economy for the benefit of its residents.

Governor Sanwo-Olu made this statement on Friday during a courtesy visit by the Prime Minister of Grenada, Mr. Dickon Mitchell, who was accompanied by the Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, at the Lagos House in Marina.

Sanwo-Olu remarked that Lagos State offers numerous opportunities that Grenada could benefit from.

He observed that both Nigeria and Grenada share many potentials and should explore ways to advance in areas such as culture, tourism, entertainment, and encourage greater engagement between Africa and the Caribbean.

“We should focus on art, culture, entertainment, and explore how we can develop our mineral resources.

It’s crucial to strengthen the Caribbean-Africa relationship,” the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu praised Prime Minister Mitchell for his leadership and urged African countries to continue forging partnerships in agriculture, food security, entertainment, tourism, and infrastructure development.

He also commended Alhaji Dangote for the ambitious refinery project in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, describing it as the largest in the world. The governor expressed confidence that Nigerians would ultimately reap the benefits of this initiative.

Addressing Prime Minister Mitchell, Sanwo-Olu applauded the partnership between Grenada and Aliko Dangote, noting that the business leader’s boldness serves as an example for others in the industry.

Earlier, Prime Minister Mitchell said the visit was a follow-up to investment discussions with Governor Sanwo-Olu during the governor’s visit to Grenada last year. He praised Nigeria’s achievements in agriculture, fashion, music, and cultural heritage.

Mitchell added that plans were underway to improve logistics for the movement of goods between the two countries.
