Ex Super Eagles striker Yakubu Ayegbeni has diamissed the comparison of Alex Iwobi’s style of play with his uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha.
The Fulham midfielder has drawn comparison with Okocha since he opted to play for Nigeria on the international scene with his performances attracting harsh criticisms.
On Saturday, Iwobi scored a dramatic late goal in the Premier League to give Fulham a 2-1 win against Manchester United, taking his league tally to four goals in 18 appearances this season.
Yak was full of praise for Iwobi but he established that the 27-year-old can’t match Okocha’s skills.
“Alex Iwobi would never be like Jay-Jay Okocha. They need to understand and stop comparing Iwobi with Jay-Jay,” Yakubu said on his Feed The Yak Podcast.
“There is no one like Jay-Jay. When he left the national team, we had no creative midfielder again. I remember back then in the national team, Jay-Jay said to me in the dressing room that he would find me on the pitch that I should just be on the run.
“Alex Iwobi can run from London to Nigeria, Jay-Jay can not run but he has the skills and he is very talented.”
