The 34th Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in six stadiums in five Ivorian cities from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The Super Eagles are in Group A of the tournament along with Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
In a brief chat, Dosu said that winning the 2023 AFCON is a possibility for the Super Eagles if they do the needful.
“If they play very well they should be able to win it. Their destiny is in their hands. We have done our bit,” Dosu, an Atlanta’96 Olympics football gold winner said.
Super Eagles will start their quest to win Nigeria’s fourth AFCON title from Group A of the Cote d’Ivoire 2021 edition. They face Equatorial Guinea on January 14, then up against host nation Cote d’Ivoire on January 18, and clash with Guinea-Bissau on January 22.
The Super Eagles were knocked out in the Round of 16 of AFCON 2021 in Cameroon by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
The Jose Peseiro-led team is currently in third position in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers with two points from two matches. They played out a 1-1 draw with Lesotho and Zimbabwe on November 16 in Uyo and November 19 in Rwanda respectively.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers will resume after the 2023 Afcon when the Nigerian team will play host to Bafana Bafana of South Africa on June 3 2024 and honour an away fixture with the Squirrels of Benin Republic on June 10.
