A member of the Super Eagles of Nigeria squad at the just concluded AFCON 2023 tournament has been listed as one of Europe’s best dribbles. His name – Moses Simon.
Moses Simon was a key member of the Super Eagles team that finished second behind Ivory Coast at AFCON 2023.
He was instrumental in the forward play, beating his markers and creating chances for his teammates.
In the quarterfinal match against Angola, Moses Simon expertly beat his marker before squaring a pass for compatriot Ademola Lookman to finish with aplomb.
Sports analytics company, Opta revealed that FC Nantes forward Moses Simon is the fourth-best dribbler in Europe with a 55.1% dribble completion rate.
Only Yamine Lamal (59.7%), Jeremy Doku (58.6%), and Leroy Sane (55.5%) have a better dribble completion rate than the 28-year-old Nigerian attacker.
Bayern Munich’s wonderkid Jamal Musiala is tied on fourth (55.1%) with Nigeria’s Moses Simon.
The statistics show that the Nigerian is better when facing players on a one-on-one occasion than leading Ligue 1 goalscorer Kylian Mbappe, who has informed PSG of his intention to move in the summer.
Simon has scored three goals and assisted five in 18 games for his Ligue 1 side and will be looking to add to this tally after returning from national assignment with Nigeria.
