Super Falcons midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has shared heartwarming news with her fans early Sunday morning, announcing the birth of her first child, as per a source.
The 29-year-old took to her social media platforms, posting photos of herself cradling her newborn baby while resting in a hospital bed.
This exciting update comes just days after Okobi revealed her pregnancy to the public.
Last week, the Nigerian international posted a series of images proudly showing her baby bump, sharing her joy as she awaited the arrival of her child.
In those photos, Okobi-Okeoghene appeared to be in the final stages of her pregnancy, and it has now been confirmed that she has safely delivered.
The energetic midfielder married her husband, Ahmed Okeoghene, in December 2017 in a private ceremony held in Delta State.
Remarkably, just weeks after their wedding, Okobi returned to the pitch, representing both her club and Nigeria at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
Okobi has had an illustrious career, winning four African Women’s Nations Cup titles with Nigeria.
She first donned the national jersey at the youth level, featuring in the 2008 and 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups and the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Her senior team journey includes appearances at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and scoring her first international goal at the 2014 African Women’s Championship in a 6–0 win over Zambia.
However, the talented midfielder missed the 2023 Women’s World Cup and this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Okobi-Okeoghene will likely be absent from Nigeria’s upcoming fixtures, including the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, due to her maternity leave.
