President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, on his appointment to the World Bank’s Private Sector Investment Lab — a global initiative focused on driving investment and job creation in emerging markets.
Describing the appointment as well-deserved, President Tinubu praised Dangote’s extensive contributions to Africa’s private sector through strategic investments and job creation.
He noted that the Dangote Group, under its founder’s visionary leadership, has evolved into one of the continent’s foremost conglomerates through innovation and sustained investment.
With business interests spanning cement, fertiliser, salt, sugar, oil, and gas, the Dangote Group’s flagship $20 billion Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals project stands as Africa’s boldest private investment to date.
The President urged Dangote to apply his transformative vision and entrepreneurial acumen to his new global role, helping to shape impactful initiatives that will benefit developing economies worldwide.
The World Bank announced Dangote’s appointment on Wednesday, noting that the Lab is entering a new phase aimed at scaling up solutions to mobilise private capital and expand employment opportunities in developing regions.
Joining Dangote on the Investment Lab are Bill Anderson, CEO of Bayer AG; Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chair of Bharti Enterprises; and Mark Hoplamazian, President and CEO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
The World Bank said the Lab’s expanded membership brings together accomplished global business leaders with a track record of generating jobs in emerging economies, aligning with the institution’s focus on employment-driven development.
