The first half ended in a dour 0-0 scoreline as neither team could find a way to break the deadlock. The game’s lone goal came from Watford’s second-half sub, João Pedro, who curled a beauty into the top corner with 15 minutes left on the clock.
The win moves Watford up to 5th in the Sky Bet Championship table in the meantime with 10 points from their opening five matches. Troost-Ekong and his teammates would be looking to get Watford back to the Premier League after they suffered relegation to the second tier last season.
