The Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Christopher Musa, said Nigerian Army has constituted two court-martials in Maiduguri and Damaturu for trial of officers and soldiers as part of efforts to enforce and maintain internal discipline within the theatre of operation.
The Theatre Commander disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit on Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu on Tuesday.
Maj. Gen Musa told his host that, “It has become necessary to enforce internal discipline in accordance with the extent laws to punish and reward committed officers.”
The Commander also informed the Governor that he and other top officers of the theatre were in the state to assess the recent attack by Boko Haram in katarko village of Gujba local government to improve strategy and boost the moral of front line soldiers.
He then solicited for a sustained partnership with the state government in the renewed fight against insurgency in the state.
Earlier, Governor Mala Buni who was represented by his Deputy Idi Barde Gubana appreciated the commitment and resilience of Nigeria army in prosecuting counterinsurgency operations, assuring that government will continue to provide the necessary support to security agencies operating in the state.
Buni called on people in the state to always appreciate, support and provide useful information to the security agencies to clear remnant of terrorists.
He attributed the relative peace being enjoyed in the state to the commitment of the Chief of army staff and other security operatives.
